Book Week 2017

In the last week of Term 1 we celebrated Book Week here at UHPS. To round off the week we had a day where everyone dressed up as their favourite book character, even the teachers dressed up. We had a parade in the amphitheater and danced to music.

Each year we hold book week to celebrate books and to encourage students to read. We also had a competition running where each block had to decorate their awhina space with the theme from a children's book. The Wild Minds chose to decorate ours as Where the Wild Things Are. Our block was judged the best overall!

We had so much fun and it was an amazing day.

Wonder Women Day

On Friday the 12th of May we had our Wonder Women Day here at UHPS where we could bring in a wonderful women in our lives that was special to us. We had many mums, grandmas and aunties come in to school to be celebrated. In the Wild Minds block we were given a piece of A5 paper with part of a design on it and had to decorate it using lots of materials including crayons, glitter, feathers, beads, felt tips, coloured pencils and much more. When we put the final masterpieces together they created the word DESIGN! We have them displayed in Room 1 and 2.

Outside the hall there was a coffee guy serving hot drinks to our Wonder Women. The best part was that our Wonder Women morning was just in time for Mother's Day! We really enjoyed this day so thanks to all the wonderful woman who came in.
